Read-only files can be a real bummer when you copy files using
CDs to a laptop.... because I travel I have to switch most of my
software between my desktop computer and my laptop every couple
of months. Haven't figured out a better and economical
alternative yet

Using CDs the only way seems to visit each directory and change
the Read-Only flags :-(

Thanks again,
Herman.

Herman,

If you don't choose "Save" it still saves but under reserved
name wizard.format.
Maybe you have to wizard.format read-only?

Hello Tomasz,

It found it: after I saved the format used for future use in
the Additional Settings window it WORKED!
I repeated the test and indeed if I save the format it works,
if I do not save the format it doesn't work even though I saved
the format the previous time. I hope this all makes sense to you
:-)

I am happy it is working :-)))

Before it worked I checked this:

The wizard.format file:

# Format definition file generated automatically
# by AmiBroker's ASCII Import Wizard
$FORMAT Ticker, Skip, Skip, Skip, Skip, Skip, Skip
$SKIPLINES 0
$SEPARATOR ,
$CONT 1
$GROUP 0
$WATCHLIST 0
$AUTOADD 1
$DEBUG 1
$NOQUOTES 1

My selections:

btw, when I click Finish in the Additional Settings window it
does seem to do some processing (time wise). But the window
closes without any indication of success or failure. The stock is
nowhere to be found.

Thanks for your help,
Herman.

Herman,

Please check if you have "Formats" subfolder in AmiBroker
directory and what is the content
of wizard.format file.

Thanks Tomasz,

I checked all files: No Read-Onlys. I loaded your .dat
fine, no problem. Thanks. I use Quote Plus, everything seems to
work fine, updating etc OK. AB works fine in all other areas, in
fact "just great!". I am having lotsafun.

It appears I cannot load a .tls files either using the
Import wizard, Strange. It used to work fine.

Anyway, it is obvious a problem at my end. I'l figure it
out somehow and will let you know when i find what causes the
problem - that is, if I am not too embarressed to tell you ;-)

Take care,
Herman.

Herman,

No ~DT name does not matter. I have imported exactly
your file (I am sending you AmIBroker database file with that
one imported).
Do you use external database source? Please check if
you have any read-only files in your database.

No luck Rick. Everything goes fine: the procedure
seems to work flawless, no error msgs. But when i am done and
look for the stock it can not be found anywhere :-) tried it a
dozen times, also by creating a new stock first.

You think the name ~DT is the cause? I will try the
procedure with some other data and names... perhaps my AB is
corrupted and I need to reinstall..

Herman

Did you do Symbol, New Stock and put the ~DT in the

Hello,

I am trying to import date from a csv file that
looks like this:

I click: File -> Import Wizard -> (Pick my
file) -> Next -> Define fields (YMD,Skip Vol) -> Select
Watchlist, Comma, Log.Errors, Aut.Add New Stocks, -> Next ->
Finish... some processing, no error msgs. Seems fine...

But I can find my ~DT ticker/file anywhere? Tried
Find... no luck.

What am I doing wrong?

Many thanks!
Herman.
