JT,
My suggestion would be to use any Windows version you are comfortable
with for the old HD that will be dedicated to AB. All of them, 98,
ME, XP, 2000, etc., can be made to be virtually interchangeable with
each other in terms of performance and user interface if you know how
to add, chop, and modify.
Don't use a Linux version, though it's an excellent OS in all
distros. AB is a Windows app, built on top of Windows, and integrates
well with other MS products, like Excel and Word which you'll be
using in conjunction with AB, as well as your (likely) Windows-based
data feed(s).
My suggestion, again, would be to keep your possible ncompatibilities
to a minimum, unless you're truly comfortable with dual boot systems.
Windows is a buggy piece of resource-hogging junk, but it offers
sufficient out-of-the-box functionality to run AB well enough to get
the job done without the learning curve using Linux will likely
impose upon you.
