Tomasz,
I have being asking myself, just what is I really hope to have with
respect to AB and VV working together. I think the following sums it
up.
1. What I want most is to be able to include some fundamental data
when using AB to make stock picks. There may be others would like to
do this as well. Right now the only way to get such information into
AB is to use AB's Import Wizard and attempt to "fool" AB by putting
PE data into the Open Interest array, Growth data into the High
array, etc. I've tried this and it works to a degree, but it causes
AB to give some very, very strange looking graphs. Also I am afraid
of what AB might think if it should come across a negative number
(both PE and Growth can be negative). If I could have only one wish
it would be to see AB have the ability to create up to 10 additional
blank arrays which could be filled with whatever fundamental data I
might wish to import. It is a wish that would benefit many AB users,
not just those like me who would like to use VV data.
2. If I could have a second wish, it would be to be able to have AB
automatically import VV data into additional AB's stock arrays. Some
of the VV data indicators like RV, RS, RT, have great promise which I
would like to throughly backtest and optimize using AB. In its most
basic form, this wish does not require that AB be able to keep up
with the constantly changing form of the VV database (fragmentations
due to daily downloads, etc. as noted in a previous post). All that
would be needed would be for AB to import the relevant data from
properly prepared VV database (ie, "compacted" and "repaired" in VV's
terminology). With this, AB could be used to do ample back testing
without having the challenges of handling new, daily downloads of VV
data.
3. Of course, if I could have a third wish, would be for AB to be
able to effortless access VV's databases without worrying whether or
not there might be a problem due to VV fragmentation. But I would be
a very happy AB user to get wishes 1 and 2.
With regards,
b
