I already made the product for niche market (the Amiga 
version of AmiBroker)
and from my experience investing time, work and money in 
Linux version
is not a great idea unless Linux becomes truly 
popular.
 
The point is that while Linux has gained a lot of server 
market it is far from being
popular as a home/desktop system. And finance software 
(like AmiBroker) does not run
on the servers but on the desktops.
 
As for combined effort - it would require giving the 
source files to the public - no it is not possible in case
of AmiBroker.

The response was truly overwhelming... I 
have plenty of ideas to keep me busy now .. I realised afterwards that the 
historical data imported only needs to be cleaned up once and that the daily 
updates will only include currently traded stocks.  Again, thanks for 
the support ... in keeping with the spirit of shareware .. by the way did 
the port to Linux ever get off the ground ?  I am an avid user of Linux 
and would be very interested in this development.
